SSI promotion

We had an opportunity yesterday to do a promotion for the
Student Statesmanship Institute summer program at the
Romeo Area Tea Party.

Our five oldest and 4 other young people did a brief skit showing what the final legislative session at SSI is like, complete with speeches, open debate, and a final vote in which the audience participated.

The bill we debated was a ban on cell phone use by teenagers ages 16-18 while driving. The bill passed 45-24.

It was a great success and everybody loved it!

Here are a couple of pics-

Our group of students that presented the SSI skit.

All of us with Amy Hawkins (a fellow SSI alum!) executive director of
Citizens for Traditional Values, a grassroots action group based in Lansing.

"First of all then, I urge that entreaties and prayers, petitions and thanksgivings, be made on behalf of all men, for kings and all that are in authority, so that we may lead a quiet and tranquil life in all godliness and dignity"
