Tim's going away party

Saturday we went to a going away party for Timothy Bryson.
He is doing an internship in North Carolina until Christmas.

We had a fun little game of softball.

(Rusty is the truck's name!)

We had a great time!

"What was the temperature on the day I was born?"
(that question was on the Timothy trivia sheet)

We will miss you Tim!
May God bless your time in NC!

SSI 2010

We had a wonderful time at SSI last week!

Here are a couple of pics:

On Wednesday everyone had press conferences.

(Anna is in the back)

Melody and I were on the same caucus.
Here we are in committee meeting.

This is a picture of the dirt on the screen of our dorm window.
And the worst part of it was that I was sleeping in the living room!
Guess what I fell asleep looking at!
(not really, I didn't care:)

Melody was our caucus's official secretary.

Everyone is ready for their speeches, right?

The SSI week two group!
The best week!

We really enjoyed having Timothy along!

Don't we look official? (all of us except Luke, that is!)

Joe and Anna did very well on their speeches

Yes, it was a long week!

The battle-hardened veteran and the newbie.
(actually, newbie no more!)
(I know he'll be reading this!)

Grace had a very fun group in her dorm!

Here is the group of guys that I roomed with.
We had a great time!
Our rule was that Tim and I couldn't go to sleep before 12:30 AM.
The later it got, the better the conversations were!

SSI was an absolute blast, and we all learned much more about how the legislature works!

Taking a one week break and some SSI info..

Hi everyone-

Our five oldest kids will be at the Student Statesmanship Institute this week.

So, I will be taking a break from the blog until Saturday or thereabouts.

On Friday there will be two mock legislative sessions at the Michigan Capitol in the House of Representatives.

The mock Senate session (Jon, Grace, and Melody) starts at 9:00 AM and the mock House session (Joseph and Anna) starts at 12:00 PM.

A lot of you have heard us talk about our previous experience at SSI, so if any of you would like to come and see it for yourself we would love for you to come!

Admission is free; just go right into the House visitor's gallery.

Hope to see you there!

Handmade stick family

We thought we would like some of those family stickers that you see on family's vans.
The only problem is that real stickers are $3.00 a pop.

So we made our own!

A great deal?

Mom got these on manager's special for 49 cents each!

The question is, was it a great deal, as in a great buy, or a great deal as in too many!

Proverbs 31:14
"She is like a merchant ship; she brings her food from afar."

We did a concert recently with the Harding family at Tri-Lakes Baptist Church in Brighton.
Pastor and Mrs. Harding's grandson Matthew was there as well.
Matthew seemed to be the hit of the evening, at least for our girls.

Here are a couple of pics-

Going for a walk

How many people does it take to figure out suspenders?

Pastor's comment when the girls asked him how to put on Matthew's suspenders (they didn't know how):

"Girls, I went to public school and even I know how suspenders work!"

"Say grandma, Matthew!"

At the Brubaker's House

Today we went over to the Brubaker's house to see their organic garden.

Mrs. Brubaker, green thumb extraordinaire, explaining her methods.

Look at all the plants-

The three cows, Rachel, Sunny, and Johnny - I'm getting hungry!

Look how big those plants are!

Relaxing back by the pond

The Fisher family swung by and surprised us!
