Don't forget to vote!

Don't forget to vote this Tuesday, November 2nd!

This is a very, very important election for Conservatives,
and, as always, every vote counts.

It's funny; since I was elected precinct delegate, and had the chance to vote
at the Republican State Convention to put great candidates
for Attorney General, Secretary of State,
Supreme Court Judges and College boards on the ballet,
it is very rewarding feeling getting to the end and (hopefully)
seeing the fruit of mine and others labor!

Our little lineup of signs!

OK, so here is the Mieczkowski Family-endorsed slate of candidates:

Attorney General:

Secretary of State:

State Board of Education:

U of M Board of Regents:

MSU Board of Trustees:

Wayne State Board of Governors:

Under the Non-Partison portion of your ballot be sure to vote for:
Justice Bob Young & Judge Mary Beth Kelly
for MI Supreme Court.
Also, vote NO on Proposal 1.
The last thing we need is a bunch of politicians rewriting
our state constitution.

For local race recommendations see
candidate responses to questions on critical issues.

Hope this helps any of you who haven't made up their mind yet,
and make sure to GET OUT AND VOTE
on Tuesday, November 2nd!

SSI banquet highlights video.

The highlights of the SSI banquet 2010 have been posted,
and it really was a noteworthy banquet.

At 5:45 there is a shot of the whole Ambassador League, including me,
up on stage to receive their awards.

The keynote by Rick Santorum is really worth watching as well.
I wish they could have included more of his speech.

Jon is still sick...

Jon is down with a case of bronchitis and a touch of pneumonia.

Here he is working on a paper, trying to get it done and submitted.
He did get it in, around 11:45 PM!
He was so tired he couldn't see straight!

Our little dishwasher.....

Here is our little dishwasher, Mary
It takes a lot of determination and patience to wash
the Mieczkowski Family's dishes!

Fortunately, Mary has both!

He will stand before kings;
he will not stand before obscure men."

Our New Stove!

Well folks, it's official. After our old oven blew on August 28th, we have
been waiting for a new one for 53 days.
It finally arrived last Wednesday!

Old Faithful

Here it comes!

The new stove!

Mom and the girls are, as you probably guessed, pretty excited.
(for that matter,  I am excited too! Hadn't had a cookie since I don't know when!)

World's Largest Pumpkin

A local farmer in Armada recently grew a pumpkin that tied the
then World Record of 1,725 lbs.

Here are a couple of pics-

Mom says, "This would make a lot of pumpkin pie!"

"Finally, a Mieczkowski-sized pumpkin!"

You can read more about this record-breaking pumpkin here.

(A few days after this post was listed some guy out in Wisconsin grew
a 1810.5 lbs. pumpkin - the new World Record.)

Hope is in Heaven

Sadly, Mom had a miscarriage on October 19th. She was eleven weeks along, but the baby
seems to have died at about eight weeks.

We named the baby "Hope" which means "trustful." We didn't know if it was a boy or a girl, but Melody brought up the fact that Hopeful joined Christian on the journey to the
Celestial City in John Bunyan's Pilgrim's Progress.

We are grateful to know that this little one is with the Lord, along with our other six siblings.

Mom is recovering well, and we are grateful for the short time this little one was with us.

Rocky for Congress!

Today Grandma and Grandpa had a fundraising dinner party for Rocky Raczkowski,
who is running against Gary Peters for US Rep. in the 9th Congressional district. Rocky is a wonderful, conservative, pro-life candidate.

The house was decorated inside and out!

One of those rabid Rocky supporters

It was a great dinner...

Rocky gave a very interesting
and informative talk.

All you in the 9th Congressional district, be sure to vote for Rocky Raczkowski
in the general election on November 2nd, 2010!

"First of all, then, I urge that entreaties and prayers, petitions and thanksgivings, be made on behalf of all men, for kings and all who are in authority, so that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and dignity. This is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth." I Timothy 2:1-4

Our new ride.....

Caleb made a LEGO version of our van the other day-

It actually seats 15 LEGO people!

That's one long car!

Oh no! Where'd all Mom's hair go!

A Mieczkowski sized stir-fry!

Since we still do not have a working oven, (going on 7 weeks now) Mom has been getting very creative with our meals.
For dinner today we had a chicken stir-fry.
Here is the Mieczkowski-resized recipe-
12 green peppers
3 large onions
3 lbs. chicken
2 zucchini
water chestnuts
6 cups beans
1 bulb garlic
Then we add a ginger stir-fry sauce and away we go!

All ready for cooking

All of the vegetables were from our garden.

Joseph is an expert with the wok

How to get your comment published.....

Hey all you dedicated Mieczkowski Musings readers-

Jono's little hint for the day:
If you want your comment published, please don't submit it as anonymous!
When you are submitting a comment just click on the dropdown beneath the comment box:

like this...
 Then click Name/URL
like this.....
 Enter your name or URL

like this....
And that's it!

It's just easier to get the comment approved and published if we know for sure who it is from!
-ADDED 10-22-10-
If we have no idea who you are, we won't publish your comment. It's that simple.
The best format is first name and (at the least) last initial.

Thanks guys,

Harvest time....

It's that time of year again!
More slow moving traffic on the country roads-
Heaping grain hoppers rattling by-

SSI fundraising banquet 2010

Thursday night our family went to the Student Statesmanship Institute annual fundraising banquet.

Former U.S. Senator Rick Santorum (R-PA) was the keynote speaker and the
guest emcee was WJR personality and radio show host Frank Beckmann.

I also had the distinct honor to receive SSI's prestigious John Quincy Adams
award for completing the maximum number of requirements
in the Ambassador League program.
(to learn more about Ambassador League click here)

I probably would not have been able to complete the Ambassador League
requirements without the great help and support of new-found friend and mentor,
Kendall Wingrove. His great outlook and heart for mentoring
 young people is truly inspiring.

Anyway, here are a couple pics from the banquet-

John Quincy Adams Award winners, past and present,
with their good friend, Kendall Wingrove.

Mr. Wingrove and I
On an interesting note, one of Mr. Wingrove's favorite things to do
before, during and after the banquet, is to take pictures!

Many of the pictures that make up this post are the work of Kendall Wingrove and his trusty camera!

Rick Santorum and (a representation of) our family

Frank Beckmann did a wonderful job as emcee.

We had a wonderful time at the banquet, and can't wait until next year!
