Something new every day!

This morning, Caleb brought a very interesting ice
formation to the back porch.....

It had formed overnight in a 5-gallon bucket.
The amazing thing was that it was half hollow!

The hum of Christmas activity....

Well, our silence on the blog is not representative of
our current busyness!

The Christmas Cantata at church went very well - the music
was beautifully presented, there were many visitors, and the
gospel was proclaimed. Praise the Lord!

At this time of year, we devote some time to recounting the things that
God has worked in and through us over the past year, and write them down in
letter format to share with family and friends.

We will be sharing the actual letter at the beginning of the new
year, but for now here are a couple of "assembly line" pictures:

Cutting, labeling, folding, stuffing, organizing....
and baking!

Two of the team members....
We have also kept busy with preparations for the Christmas
celebration. The house is filled with many aromas from
the kitchen, as well as scraps of thread and yarn as we
finish off our homemade gifts.

The muffin helper!

This cute picture reminds me - we will be doing an
update of our "About Us" pages around the time we post the family
letter... stay tuned for new pictures, many of which didn't make the
cut into the family letter, but which are worth checking out!

Here's a peek at some of the "crafty" activity that's been pretty constant
around here!

Say Something poster contest

Our good friend Joe Alessio has designed and entered a
Here is his entry below:

So many live without the slightest idea of what
they wish to accomplish with their life.
Instead, make an impact by choosing a destination
and working towards it rather than realizing
too late that you have been going in circles for decades.

The top-rated poster designs are printed and given to a
non-profit organization to install in their facility as creative inspiration.

So, if you could visit Joe's entry and vote him 5 stars,
we (and he!) would greatly appreciate it!

"Always Say Goodbye"

Our Uncle Gordon wrote a song recently to honor
his father-in-law who passed away in 2007.

It is a very touching song reminding us to treasure
those special moments in life that really count.

The Heritage String Quartet provided the accompainment for this song.

The Christmas Tree!

Today we went out and cut down our Christmas tree!
We tried a new tree farm, since the selection at the one we
usually patronize was getting kind of sparse :)

"No, that one!!!"

Cutting down the tree...

Everyone take a turn...

The "home-grown beasts of burden" dragging the tree up...

The finished result!

Hope you all have a very merry time preparing for the CHRISTmas season!

Happy Thanksgiving!

As we celebrate God's many blessings that have been bestowed upon us,
let us meditate on this chapter from Psalms that the Pilgrims held dear:

Psalm 100

Make a joyful noise unto the LORD, all ye lands.
Serve the LORD with gladness: come before his presence with singing.
Know ye that the LORD he is God: it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.
Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name.
For the LORD is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his truth endureth to all generations.
