This week in Lansing....

I had a wonderful time in Lansing last week!

Senator Green's chief-of-staff couldn't come with him at the start of session,
so I got to tag along and ended up sitting with the senator
on the floor during senate session!
(senators are only allowed one staffer on the floor during session)

The Curriculum Beyond the Classroom group met at the
Lansing office of Truscott Rossman
Michigan's premier strategic communications firm.
The president of the company, John Truscott, was our guest speaker.

Mr. Truscott and I

Mr. Truscott was also press secretary to former governor John Engler.

-The group-

I also secured plenty of free ice cream products in the Michigan Capitol as the
Michigan Dairy Food Association sponsored its annual Dairy Foods Awareness Day.

I definitely increased my awareness:)

Here are a couple of creatures that have been around our property lately:

Some robins have a nest in front of our house.....

Happy Father's Day!

Happy Father's Day to all you fathers out there!

I took this nice pic of Dad and Mom the other day:

Thank you Dad (and Mom!) for all you do!

the fruit of the womb is a reward."

Lincoln look-alikes...

Grandpa and Grandma Birchard recently purchased a
second Lincoln towncar to add to their "collection" of cars....

Since the Lincolns are both the same color and body style,
we decided to have some fun with pictures:

Am I seeing double?

Which is which?

"This one's mine!"

It is very entertaining to go to over to their house, and see the
almost-identical Lincolns in the garage!

Only in Lansing....

This week's pilgrimage to Lansing proved to be a fun and exciting one!

There is a new intern in the office I am working at, so I was relieved that I
didn't have to answer all of the almost 100 calls our office received that
day regarding the DRIC (Detroit River International Crossing)

Kendall Wingrove put on another fantastic CBC lunch, and a bunch
of us interns and college students had a great time fellowshipping
and learning new things and ideas from the guest speaker.

Later in the day, Kendall and I made our way over to the Michigan Hall of Justice to
observe the gifting of a painting to Senate Majority Leader Randy Richardsville.

Me with Chief Justice of the MI Supreme Court Bob Young

Later in the day, a friend of mine had the opportunity to meet
and talk with key members of President Obama's
Personal Economic Strategy Team board of Supervisors (PESTS),
who were in Lansing as part of their nation-wide media tour.

The advisors shared their detailed strategy for a
financial recovery with Phillip!
Makes for great public policy!

Birthday Party!

Last weekend we celebrated Anna, Mary, and Grandpa Birchard's birthday!

Violin Recital

The fiddlers in our family performed at their teacher's annual
recital last week:

Everyone did a great job!

vid 4 all u txtrs....

Hey everyone-
Here is a video that some friends of ours made
for a 36 hour film contest - Basically, they had 36 hours
to come up with a script, incorporate certain elements determined by
the sponsors of the contest, shoot, and edit a 3 minute movie.

If you text (and who doesn't!) you need to watch this video!
Check it out below!
