April happenings...

A good friend of our family just had a new baby!

Rebecca and Clara

"This one won't rob the feeder any more!"

Readers are leaders.... in napping :)

We are trying a no-till garden method this year!
It's called Back to Eden, and involves various composting
and raised-bed methods.

We got a half-ton of paper for the base of the garden

Taking a break :)

Here is the beginning of the newspaper/manure/woodchip layering

Everyone pitched in and helped!

Caleb has been wanting to make a playhouse/hunting blind for a while.

We salvaged a bunch of wood from a disassembled barn down the road,
and Caleb is working on making his project become a reality!

Work in progress...

All that's left is the shingles!

"For, lo, the winter is past, the rain is over and gone;
The flowers appear on the earth; the time of the singing of birds is come,
and the voice of the turtle is heard in our land;"

Song of Solomon 2:11-12

  1. Looks like you all have had a lot of fun, and been extremely busy recently. We are also trying the Back to Eden method if gardening, and my mom and I recently planted some starts into the prepared soil, and it was amazing how moist, and dark the soil was under the top two inches, even with several days of sun.

We actually got to go to the man's garden in Washington who started the Back to Eden gardening idea. It was .amazing to see how moist his soil was in the middle of summer, and how sweet his vegetables were even though some of them had already gone to seed. Anyhow, I hope you all enjoy your garden, and I hope it turns out great.
