Weekend roofing job

Over the weekend, Jon (and friends) of Heritage Building Services
did a pretty big roof job!

The roof was 36 square of shingle:
108 bundles of shingle = 3,600 sq. feet = close to 2,400 shingles.

Here are some pics from the job:

Tear-off - always fun :)

There were two layers of shingle that were torn off = 16,000 lbs. of material.

They had to move all the old shingles in Mr. B's trailer over to the dumpster

Shingle delivery!

The crew! (and a couple of extras :)

Jon's crew was 6 guys, 5 of whom were 17 and younger :)

Nothing like learning on the fly!

Work has begun on the garage!

The job was 36 square of shingle (3,600 sq. feet of roof)

They worked around 12 hours on Friday, and ended up doing close
to 18 hours on Saturday, wrapping up at 12:30 AM.

Someone is tired :)

The finished roof!

Straight as an arrow!

  1. Well done:) looks like you all had fun, and got a lot done at the same time:)

  2. I have helped tear shingles before, not too fun, but a job that must be done. Of course some people would prefer to just add another layer, once my Dad (Who is a builder) had to tear off three layers on a roofing that he was doing alone. ~Rebekah

  3. @Jordan, @ Elanee - Thanks! It was a fun job! Everyone learned a lot!
@Rebekah - Yes, it is important to do a roof the right way :) When tearing off the old roof, you find others' previous mistakes as well!
