Julia's 9th Birthday!

Today is Julia's 9th Birthday!

Julia is a very special girl and we look forward
to God's continued direction in her life!

U.P. Post Part 4

Well, here's the final post about our time in the U.P.!

Dutch Blitz with 12 people!
On the way up, we lost a hubcap near Mackinaw City.
When we went to church on Sunday, we drove past the spot
and Caleb found it just where it had rolled off!

We were able to get our van back with a new transmission.
Our trip was extended by two days - no one was complaining!

Practice time!

Forgot to bring your math? Mrs. Beckman can fix that!

We love volleyball!

Matthew and Joe play the same instruments! (rollover)

Joe and Matthew had a pushup contest that was captured in stop-motion.

Check it out below:

We are the same age!

Lots of Ultimate Frisbee

Forget the instruments, we brought our hockey sticks!
"No, no, no!" says Mrs. Beckman.

The youngest kids

The boys all enjoyed shooting bows together almost every day we were there!

Always improving!

"Wait! There's a bunny rabbit!"

While we were there, Jon shot a "Robin Hood!"

The shot was at 20 yards

For those that don't know, a Robin Hood is when you split an arrow already
in the target with a second arrow - it is the "hole in one" of archery:

The latest craze is string games!

We have had such a great time!

We had a wonderful time of fellowship
with our friends the Beckmans and look forward
to many more times together!

U.P. Post Part 3

On Sunday, we played music at Mackinaw City Bible Church.
It is a great church - be sure to visit when heading up north!

We also visited McGulpin Point, just down the shore from the Mackinac Bridge.

McGulpin Point Lighthouse
The lighthouse keeper had 10 kids!

"It's squished up here!!"

Can you see the bridge?

Caleb on McGulpin Point rock - it has been mentioned in communications
going back as far as 1749 by the French trappers who visited the straits.

"That rock is bigger than our family!"

"Remember when we met on Mackinac Island?"

"That was 29 years ago - and the rest is history! Isn't God good?!"

Grandma and Grandpa Mieczkowski and our family
They had taken Julia and Rebecca on the special Mackinac Island trip
that the rest of us had done with them two-by-two.

Paradise, MI
On Monday, we visited Tahquamenon Falls using the Beckman's van.
They are one of the largest falls east of the Mississippi; right here in Michigan!
Our van, we found out while on this excursion,
needs a complete transmission overhaul.
We will be in the UP a couple of more days!

The older kids and Dad hiked a 4-mile trail between the upper and lower falls.

Filling water bottles at a spring

There were some beautiful views!

The water is not so calm anymore :)

"But whoever drinks of the water that I will give him will never be thirsty again.
The water that I will give him will become in him
a spring of water welling up to eternal life."
John 4:14
