Star Spangled Banner 200th Anniversary

Today is the 200th anniversary of our National Anthem!

While everyone knows the first verse, the fourth verse in particular is rarely sung.

Oh! thus be it ever, when freemen shall stand
Between their loved home and the war's desolation!
Blest with victory and peace, may the heav'n rescued land
Praise the Power that hath made and preserved us a nation.
Then conquer we must, when our cause it is just,
And this be our motto: "In God is our trust."
And the star-spangled banner in triumph shall wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave!

When Melody sings at patriotic events, she always tries to sing the 4th verse if possible.

For this 200th anniversary of our National Anthem,
here's Melody singing the Star Spangled Banner at a Paul Ryan rally back in 2012:

  1. We love that verse too! We always try to get it in when we sing as a family. By ourselves that is! You wouldn't want to hear our singing group in public :)
