New OCMS Director!

We are pleased to announce that the OCMS Board has selected
Pastor Ben Klaus to be the new Director of OCMS!

For those of you who are not familiar with Pastor Ben, here is some personal background:

Pastor Ben has been classically trained as a vocalist, violinist, and pianist. He received his B.B.S. in Bible and Church Music from Ambassador Baptist College. He also received a Master of Arts in Biblical Studies from Maranatha Baptist Bible College, and is currently finishing his Master of Divinity from Detroit Baptist Theological Seminary.

Prior to entering the ministry full-time, Pastor Ben maintained his own private music studio with over 60 students weekly. He was also a member of the Gardner-Webb Symphony Orchestra, Charlotte Civic Orchestra, Lake Geneva Symphony Orchestra (as assistant concertmaster), Milwaukee Symphony Chorus, and Florentine Opera Company of Milwaukee.

He most recently served as Assistant Pastor and Music Director at Red Rocks Baptist Church in Denver before being called to be Senior Pastor of Gibraltar Bible Baptist Church in January of 2013. While at Red Rocks, he worked extensively to strengthen the choir and orchestra as well as teaching numerous private music lessons. He has also served as choral conductor at Bethany Christian School. His choirs and ensembles in Colorado and Michigan have won numerous competitions.

Pastor Ben is married to Rachel (Harding), who is a first violinist in the Detroit Symphony Orchestra. They have two beautiful children, Matthew and Katelyn.

Pastor Ben has a very similar vision and passion for God-honoring music as our dear founding Director Leonard Holliday, and desires to encourage and promote musical excellence in our churches and in the community of believers. While the distance he will need to travel will be a challenge (living in Gibraltar), he is committed to be involved in as many aspects of the conducting of the orchestra as he can, along with his director responsibilities.

We are excited to see where the Lord will lead OCMS with Pastor Ben as the director in the future!
